Since 1985 Insurance Negotiating Service (INS) has saved insurance companies and self funded employers millions of dollars by negotiating medical claims. The same service that insurance companies have used for decades is now available to individuals. INSNET was created to help empower individuals by helping control their out of pocket medical expenses. INSNET is the consumer's safety NET.
With today's shift towards more Consumer Driven Health Plans, INSNET is a much needed patient advocate. For decades health insurance companies have attempted to lower costs. More recently medical providers are getting more aggressive with patient balances by eliminating payment plans and partnering with large financial institutions. Both the insurance and healthcare industries are taking steps to remain profitable, often at the expense of the individual patient.
Avoid paying "Sticker Price" on your medical bills. Thanks to numerous resources, individuals know the difference between MSRP, invoice and dealer cost before they shop for a new car. These resources are rarely available for consumers when it comes to their medical bills. To maintain Medicare accreditation, a medical provider must agree to bill each patient the same amount for the same procedure. Most times the provider does not collect what they bill. There are over 6,000 health plans in the United States. Each may have contracts in place with some of the 850,000 US medical providers. Therefore, each doctor or hospital may have between 5 and 100 reimbursement rates for the same procedure!
Claims can easily be input on the secure website http://www.myinsnet.com/. Once a User Profile has been created, an individual can access their account and input additional claims. The individual can also check the status of the claim at any time. Claims can also be mailed, faxed or emailed to INSNET. INSNET provides its review and negotiation services RISK FREE to the individual. If a savings is realized on a medical bill, INSNET charges a nominal fee from the amount saved. There is no fee if there is no savings! Any claim with a patient balance exceeding $200 is eligible for be sent for review and negotiation.
Once a new claim is input into the INSNET database, the charges are compared to other claims in the geographic area the services were provided. Once the new claim has been analyzed in the database a trained negotiator reviews it as well. If the charges are excessive, the negotiator will contact the medical provider and attempt to settle the patient balance for a more reasonable amount.
